December 1983 was the departure date from London three vehicles – a landrover, a van and a double-decker bus. We had spent the previous months converting the bus, beds upstairs. kitchen downstairs. Seven weeks of driving to India followed, across Europe, into then Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and then into India. The purpose of bringing these vehicles to India was for a lecture/programme tour for my teacher Swami Vishnu-devananda.
